You had it coming, Meredith! Newcomer Lauren Stamile, who joined Grey’s Anatomy on Nov. 15 as feisty nurse Rose, will stick around for at least four more episodes to play McDreamy¹s new love interest. (They’ll exchange their first kiss on Dec. 6.) The actress was cast in September and, as expected, was over the moon about the possibility of acting with Patrick Dempsey, not to mention slightly shocked: “It was like, are you kidding me? I’m kind of geeky. I hope people aren’t disappointed.” It’s unclear when Stamile’s fourth episode will air; it’s also the last original episode of Grey’s that ABC had in production before creator Shonda Rhimes and her writers joined the picket line Nov. 4.

Good, now maybe Meredith can move on with some other guy who isn’t a wishy washy idiot, who says contradicting things and constantly messes with her head, while implying that somehow she’s never good enough for him emotionally.
I’m with you, Jyoti. I can’t see why Meredith is to blame for the mess that is their relationship when Derek is such a douchebag. As soon as I realized that Shonda Rimes had no intention of eventually exposing Derek as a faux knight-in-shining-armor, the guy you think is perfect but in reality messes you up when you get involved with him – which is where I thought the show was going from the beginning – I stopped watching. I can’t watch this ass being touted as the epitome of dreamy manhood. Yuck. (And it ain’t Patrick Dempsey; I practically drooled when I saw him in Sweet Home Alabama for the first time, and railed at Reese Witherspoon for being so boneheaded as to choose the other, blander guy over such a specimen!!)
Oh please. Meredith is completely to blame for all that has gone wrong in her relationship. She doesn’t know how to have a normal relationship with anyone on the show. She has a great guy who would do anything for her. I think the two of you must be in bad relationships if you think Derek is to blame.
I am happy for Dereck… Mer has the ability to pull everyone down in her depressive vortex. Glad McDreamy is going to be released from it.
They are both to blame. He refused to commit by choosing Addison over Meredith, and now that he is finally ready she is ambivalent. They both have problems just like every other relationship on the face of the earth. I just hope they can put it together eventually. Plus it would be kind of boring if they got along all the time.
I totally agree that he is in part to blame for this mess of a relationship. He failed to tell her he was still married and then chose Addison. Not a great foundation for a trusting relationship — particularly given Meredith’s abandonment issues. [I do think that Shonda (as brilliant as she is) has milked this relationship do death and needs to give it a rest for a while.]

Is it possible to believe that Derrick may be part of the reason that Meredith is so screwed up? Did everyone forget how in love with him she was in season 1? He chose to try to make it work with Addison, so maybe that’s why Meredith has some trouble completely trusting him now. He’s already broken her heart once.
Can’t you all see that this is make-believe and you are griping over people pretending to be other people. There are no rules governing these characters – the could make Dr. McDreamy, Steamy, Love-Machinee, whatever – be a serial murderer. And they probably will given they have exhausted every angle and character of the show. I definitely agree with some of the things being said. Mer is not the only one to blame. Derek is the one who says stuff like “I want to grow old with you and I’ll wait until you’re ready, but if someone else comes along maybe I won’t wait..” What kind of crap is that?! I don’t like the new love connection either because I do think that MerDer are a great item, and very interesting to watch. But I wish now that Mer would start dating someone else because Derek has done some really shoddy things to her. Meredith might have broken Derek’s heart at the end of last season, but Derek has no one to blame but himself. When the show started Meredith was all open to him and loved him and was yearning for her happily ever after. Then he shattered her trust first in him, by not revealing he was married, and then he shattered her trust in love, by going back to Addison and then having the nerve to be mad at Meredith for trying her best to recover from the pain he caused. He has yet to even acknowledge that maybe, just maybe the reason Mere’s so wishy washy towards being with him is because he jerked her around so much at the beginning that it’s really no wonder that she’s unsure whether she can trust in him or believe there really is a happily ever after.
How can he acknowledge her issues with her parents and abandonment in the first epi of this season and STILL not realize that he did the same thing to her and that she’s got excellent reason to be wary. That his own actions are the problem
You guys are SO right. McDreamy isn’t so Dreamy anymore… I hope that Shonda will make him grovel big time!!! (but I don’t have much hope..). I don’t watch the show anymore, just read the summaries & watch some clips on youtube. But since mid-season 3, I don’t know what’s happening, if it’s the same writers as in seasin 1 & 2 & the beginning of season 3, but the show is REALLY going down…

That’s what made that show so enjoyable was their witty repartoire in the first 2 1/2 seasons (we won’t count that atrocious second half of season 3). Also, why are George and Izzy still pretending to be a couple? This is unexplainable to me… And for goodness sakes, let’s give Christina a good storyline! Poor Izzy, she’s a nurse at best, hahahaha. I don’t like George anymore. I want to see Sloane and Callie get it on! And I want McThorny to get McLost!
Derek is at his best paired with Mark Sloan – they’re hilarious together. With all those doctors & drugs in the hospital you’d think someone would give Meredith a Prozac.
Wow..one of the worst written, plot device driven, pushed on us, ratings ploy ever. There’s a reason the ratings on Grey’s are falling. Here’s one prime example. Absolute horrible writing and Lauren Stamile’s acting is worse. Makes Derek look like a heartless jerk with no substance. Nice job Grey’s.
Derek is the worst piece of cr#p of a character out there. Sexes Mer at the biggining and makes out with the PlotDevice later. And the whole way they put her in the show was so bad. I thought Patrick Dempsey said this season would be good. His character is a liar and now he’s one too? Move on Meredith. Go get Mark. Addison did and there’s a reason. Derek’s a loser and the nurse scares me.
