Donny Osmond to put on his 'Dancing' shoes?

Categories: TV Biz, Television

Between cheering his kid sister from the sidelines and interviewing contestants as Entertainment Tonight’s special correspondent, Donny Osmond has been spending an awful lot of time on the Dancing with the Stars stage. And with sister Marie now claiming a spot on next week’s finals, it should come as little surprise that Donny himself is considering signing up for the competition’s sixth go-round, which kicks off next March. “They’ve talked to him about it,” said a jubilant — and 30 pounds lighter — Marie following her semifinals victory Tuesday night. “He keeps going back and forth. But he could so do it. He’s danced way more than I have, and he’d be so fun, too.”

I would love to see Donny Osmond on DWTS, but not right after Marie’s season. Wait for the season after next.
Right now, I am having an Osmond overdose…

  • FlaGal

Oh no! I’ve seen enough of the Osmonds to last a lifetime. Bad enough that Marie has taken the spot of a better dancer, but I certainly don’t want to see Donny in the next season. He has been milking it tooooooo much this time around. All those teeth can get to you!

  • Mike

FlaGal: Jennie wasn’t a better dancer, sorry. Sabrina (the best) was voted off too long ago to worry about it now.
I’d like to see Donny do it. He’d probably be slightly less fun to watch than Marie, but I enjoy them both.

  • molly

Please! No more Donny! We saw more than enough of him this season.

As if I’m not throwing up enough watching Marie….ugh

  • what what

    NOOOOOOOOO MOOOOORE OSMONDS!!

  • Kim

I’m so sick of the Osmands. They are so annoying it’s makes me sick. Everybody feels so sorry for Marie about her dad, divorce, and son being in rehab but to me it seems like it doesn’t bother her. She is way to happy, she need’s to calm herself down. And who does Donny think he is. He’s a pro dancer all of a sudden that knows everything. Give me a break.

  • Melina

The Osmands are so lame. I’ve had enough of them

  • Debra

Well, Helio has gotten this far by having a gorgeous, flashy partner who choreographs expertly around his shortcomings. Marie may not be up to more intricate choreography the same way Mel or Sabrina are/were, but she’s got good rhythm and she’s graceful, and she sells it better than any of them. I think that has to count for something.
(Donny is bugging me too, though).

Please please please do not make us suffer through another Osmond onslaught next season … what on earth have we done to make the producers of DWTS hate us so much?

  • cml

Don’t even think about it Donny!!!!

  • Kate

I am so sick and tired of the Donnie & Marie show. That’s all it is anymore. The Osmonds have their own 30 minute show on every night…its called Entertainment Tonight, but come on…really, its the Donnie & Marie show. Why else would ET have Donnie on instead of former Dancing with the Stars Lisa who use to talk about the dancers? Donnie’s never been on the show, but he can critize everyone except his sister. This season had been one of the best season until it became all about those two. Let’s stop talking about the Osmonds for once and talk about two stars who can actually DANCE since that is what the show is all about…Mel B & Helio. Thanks!

As a versatile male myself, I think Don is capable of cutting the rug. Because like me he has the physique and good looks, he should attract a massive fan base of voters. I am the most popular person at any club because like Donny, I have charisma.

  • Tuzo

I just threw up a little in my mouth.

  • Suzi

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!! It’s bad enough that Marie made it to the finals based on her baby boomer fan base when she is not close to being one of the best dancers, but we surely don’t need her brother on there next season. I pray that Marie does not win as she is not the best dancer – go Mel B – coolest person on the planet!

  • Tammi

Well, I’m certainly glad that Entertainment Tonight has gone with the Osmond theme and gotten off of the BABY DANNIELYNN kick every night, day in, day out!!!

  • ks

Please NO!!!! I didn’t like them in their variety show and I don’t like them now! I admit, I flip the channel when she dances. I am also tired of her drama off the show. Why did she even make it to the final? I agree, she is the wrong person to be there, let alone having him in next year. Give us a break!!

  • ck

Osmonds = Ratings. Just ask Oprah. And ratings are the Holy Grail to networks. Marie may not be the best dancer but she is a ratings goldmine.

  • Simpli_Fi

I’m with the folks on the OD of Osmonds!! I don’t think I would watch if Donny came on next season. Too much drama, and I’d hate to see him faint or have a kid end up in rehab because of it.

  • Dibbee

I would be so happy to have Donny on DWTS. I thought of that a long time ago because I know how well he can dance already. He is just a natural. I have followed his entire career and I think he would enjoy this show so much. Go for it Donny!

  • anonymous

Personally,I’d like to see Donny do it. I do think it is best though that he waits until next fall. I don’t care if you all have issues with both of them….but have some respect for the fans….some of the stuff posted here is downright vile and degrading.

  • Mickey

Donnie Osmond equals ego. He has jumped on his sisters dress tails and waltzed, cha cha-ed, and quick stepped into our homes uninvited. He is a self righteous know it all. Any one remember when he dissed Rosie about her weight. And that’s when she was queen of nice.
As for Marie? “My marriage is ending but I’m still dancing. My dad died, but I’m still dancing. My son is in rehab, but I’m still dancing.” I’ld like to see what meds she is on, that makes her so hyper-giggly. I’m just saying.

At age 65 I enjoy DWS. Having Donnie on would be great. For those who throw cold water on the idea, I say “Wait a minute”. What better role models could the Osmonds have been? We watched Donnie & Marie as a family and loved it 20 yrs ago. Now that my daughters are grown up, they still enjoy the Osmonds. Donnie in Joseph…Dreamcoat was wonderful. My daughters went to see it, and waited to talk to Donnie. He took them back stage, took a pic with them, he couldn’t have been kinder. Just think about it. What kind of role models do people want for the children? They may not be perfect, but who is? Too bad smiling faces are a negative to some. I don’t get it.

  • susie

Yes – I would love to see him perform…

  • Honest

Donnie and Marie both should go home and take care of their kids. It is enough that they were not around their kids because of show business. Go HOME..We have had enough! I do not want to be forced to look at them any longer!

Hey – How about getting a couple of the Jackson 5 brothers, someone from the Carney Wilson group, a Hanson brother and maybe one of the Olsen Twins to go up against Donny – Now that would be a show to watch!!

  • Kate

Please no more Osmands. It’s enoght that I had to put up with Marie all season, I can’t take Donnie as well.

  • Jen

Hmmm.I don’t see a clause that says “YOU MUST WATCH DWTS!” If you don’t like who’s on it don’t watch it…that simple – No one is ever going to like all the contestants each season!

  • mary alice

Margo, I couldn’t agree with you more. I really enjoy watching Marie dance and I think it’s wonderful that Donny and her other brothers support and love her so much. As for the over-exposure on ET, they do that all the time, so just don’t watch.
