Twentieth Century Fox has just greenlit a live-action adaptation of the popular Japanese manga Dragonball. The internationally renowned series of graphic novels, video games, and television
shows will receive the big-screen treatment from director James Wong (Final Destination), producer Stephen Chow (star of Kung Fu Hustle), and young star Justin Chatwin (War of the Worlds), who will portray lead character Goku. The studio has also castBuffy the Vampire Slayerveteran James Marsters to play the villain Piccolo. The movie will bow next August, and Chatwin has already begun his training regimen with the stunt company behind The Matrix, The Bourne Supremacy, and 300.

OH MAN! THIS IS AWESOME!!!!!
Wow. Well at least the actors look alot like the characters. I’m a big fan so this might be fun!! Other casting interestd me such as Master roshi, Vegeta, Krillin, Bulma Gohan Chi-chi, Tein Chin Han, and etc. This will defintetly be interesting.
Tom Welling would have made a perfect Goku. Please reconsider……
i personally cannot wait for this movie to come out. I’ve been waiting for a live dragonball movie since i first heard of the series i think the actors are ok though
…..no wonder the Japanese are all out to boycott this thing

Join us please! Make this nightmare stop!!!
They have completely butchered the characters and no doubt the whole story. The guy playing Goku looks like he cannot pull the role off, and Yamcha..
I hope they decide not to make this movie… and completely agree with Vege about the Japanese
DBZ was the first anime I ever truly enjoyed and loved, and personally I think this is just a mockery of the original series. I do not expect this movie to be ‘epic’, and I doubt it’s going to be the next ‘Transformers’ or ‘Dark Knight’. I don’t even understand why they still call it ‘Dragon Ball’, the only thing that’s similar to the original series is the names of the characters, Heck, i bet piccolo is just some high school bully.
When I first discovered an article about this movie, I severely hoped that it was only a hoax, i’m saddened by the fact that I was wrong. The only good news is is that they’ve butchered it so much that there’s nothing else for them to do wrong.
I wish the film producer understand that, how awesome the dragonball cartoon serise was and try to make it as good as the cartoon itself. My best wishes to all the crue of the movie. Thanks……..
After viewing some leaked scenes from Japan I gotta say that this movie looks decent. Although the storyline isn’t identical to the series, it still tries to stay true. I’m a big fan of Chow Yun Fat but I don’t think that he is a good choice for Master Roshi. A lot of information has been leaked to this movie and you can find some great video (the trailer is actually viewable now) along with pics on the web if you can swim through all of the fanfare and self made garbage claiming to be legit. FOX will not let us down. And wait until you see the transformation of Goku into ape form. I was able to view this before Fox pulled it from the net and it is freakin distrubing! This movie is going to have some amazing special effects especially with one of my favorite Asian directors Stephen Chow. Please be patient and a bit more positive. Fox has a lot riding on this and they hope to turn it into a 3 part movie if the first one does well.
