'CSI' Fans Launch Save Jorja Fox Campaign

Oct 8, 2007, 06:12 PM | by Lynette Rice

Categories: TV Biz

In reaction to published reports that CSI's Jorja Fox is expected to leave the popular CBS drama by year's end, fans are stealing a page from the Jericho chronicles by launching an Internet campaign to save their favorite character, Sara Sidle. So far, they've orchestrated three airplane flyovers in the airspace above the Universal lot in Los Angeles (with "Save Jorja" banners) and sent $3,500 in cash to the CSI production offices (to help offset Fox's six-figure salary). They're also bombarding the producers with balloons and Life Savers candy. For the record, no one at CBS/Paramount has officially confirmed that Fox is going bye-bye, though one key insider admits it's a fait accompli. Because of that, it seems highly unlikely that the efforts of www.dollarforsense.com will succeed, but then who knew an Internet campaign — and truckloads of peanuts — would save a bomb (from a ratings POV, that is) like Jericho?

Not sad to see her go. She didn't want to stay on the show anymore,it's the 8th season. I love the show but she was a bit preachy and whiney.

jo stout Thu, Nov 1, 2007 at 01:14 PM EST

csi should not write sara out of the show, she is part of the team. We enjoy all of them. It just would not be the same.

vegasfan Thu, Oct 25, 2007 at 09:14 PM EST

I so love the relationship between Sara Sidle and Grissom, it will be hard to see that end. I love the show, and Jorja has evolved her character so well over the years. I hope she returns in the not-too-distant future, and wish her well in her endeavors, both personal and professional. She's made a positive impact and left an indelible mark on CSI.

JP Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 10:21 PM EST

I bet Jorja would rather you donate your hard earned dollar to a deserving charity.

patti Tue, Oct 16, 2007 at 06:28 PM EST

I won't be sorry to see her go. I never did see any "chemistry" in the GSR...It always seemed "forced". Now in the episode, "Lady Heather's Box", there was smoldering passion between the 2 of them! They spent the night together (he's wearing the same shirt over tea at breakfast!), so I'm hoping that they can ressurect that passion instead of sticking him with another cold, unfeeling love interest. I always thought the character of Sara was cold, cardboard, whiney, anorexic and narcissistic. JMHO

julz Mon, Oct 15, 2007 at 04:43 PM EST

no jorja fox = no CSI. i love sara and am a real GSR fan. how could they even think about doing this??? So many people love sara and jorja is a fantastic character who warms our hearts. At the end of the day, without fans a show has nothing. So with millions turning off if the "plan" goes through the show will most definately end. Power to the people. Just keep the faith alive that she wil stay. We love you jorja

sibe Sun, Oct 14, 2007 at 10:50 PM EST

Jorga Fox is not that great and I certainly would not miss her from the show. I think the relationship deters from the point of the show...

Ggeeklover Fri, Oct 12, 2007 at 09:24 PM EST

Everyone here has the same message. CSI is nothing without Jorja Fox/Sara Sidle. She's my absolute FAVORITE out of them all, and ever since I was 8 (when I began watching), has been an inspiration. Even as a teenager now I still look up to here just as I did when I was a little kid! That's like killing a superhero off to the little kid still in me. You wouldn't kill off Batman or Superman or Spiderman, would you CBS? So why kill off Sara Sidle? They equate to the same thing for thousands. Even hundreds of thousands probably.

KEEP JORJA FOX ON! CSI IS NOTHING WITHOUT HER!

vida blue Fri, Oct 12, 2007 at 01:00 AM EST

I whole heartedly believe that I belong to an "inter-net family," a family that just happens to extend to 40 countries and all 50 states. Being "labeled" does not bother me, nor will it deter me from contributing to this campaign that I care so deeply about. We do know where the money will go. Sometime in the near future contact CBS and ask them which charity they have chosen. It may very well be one of the many charities Jorja Fox supports. So, with passionate and dedicated hearts, we will continue with our campaign and we will not let any disparaging remarks stand in our way. Thank you for mentioning the campaign and I wish you luck with your journalistic endeavors. Peace out.

CBS watcher Thu, Oct 11, 2007 at 07:09 PM EST

CBS and Les Moonves need to wake up and smell the coffee (or insects). He made so much money off of CSI and all the actors on the show. Give the woman what she deserves.

Annie Hughes.UK Thu, Oct 11, 2007 at 04:11 PM EST

Another opposing view from your own pen Miss Rice.

Again you have failed to tell the reader openly in this article that the "Published report" came from you.

I appreciate that you provided the link to the article and your name was therer for everyone to see but I do feel that this has shown you in not such a good journalistic light.

I refer you to my comment made on your articel Sara and Grissom ? Wedding .

I am sorry if you feel annoyed that I questioning your journalistic integrity but you have left yourself a little open to debate and in fact have left your magazine open to question for ? using Sara and Grissom (or the actors who play them) to sell without even wondering too much about truth.

CanadianCSISaraFan Thu, Oct 11, 2007 at 06:00 AM EST

I can't imagine CSI without Jorja Fox. How foolish if they let her go!

Suzie Thu, Oct 11, 2007 at 05:33 AM EST

I love Sara's character. She's strong, resourceful, intelligent, doesn't rely on sex appeal. She is a good role model. Her relationship with Grissom makes me feel good because my parents had the same age gap, as does my relationship. It's good to have a TV series that reflects my reality

Jen Thu, Oct 11, 2007 at 02:38 AM EST

I love all the cast on CSI but Sara is definately the best. She brings out the best in Grissom, makes me like him even more. I really hope Jorja is able to stay, otherwise I'm affraid CSI will loose a lot of its appeal for me.

Brittany Thu, Oct 11, 2007 at 01:33 AM EST

Thanks for publicizing the campaign. We are very proud of it and working hard. If they lose Sara/Jorja, they're losing viewers all over the world.

Lexi Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 10:22 PM EST

I really hate to see Jorja Fox go, and I wish the people running the internet campaign all the best of luck. CSI won't be the same without her.

Denise Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 09:28 PM EST

Thank you so much for covering this story. Sara Sidle has touched many people who watch CSI, and a huge part of that emotional connection is due to the excellent portrayal of Jorja Fox. I enjoy CSI for the stories-but if all I wanted was the science, I'd watch Forensic Files. I like touching on the character's lives, their motivations, their humanity.

No one on CSI has more of that than Sara.

I hope and pray this campaign will be successful. Thanks for letting people know about it! You're awesome.

Bonnie Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 08:57 PM EST

I'm with you Sharon, what DID happen to that cacoon? The fact is, Jorja Fox has fans that TPTB at CBS just weren't prepared for. Give her want it is she wants or we'll just keep right on sending things. =)

Dana Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 01:29 PM EST

Sarah and Grissom are my favorite characters on CSI and Jorja Fox is a great actress. They'd have to be crazy to let her go she is an integral part of the show and we were just starting to see Sarah and Grissom's relationship develop after all these years

Jurgen Wed, Oct 10, 2007 at 12:55 PM EST

I didn't know Jorja was leaving. I really hope she doesn't. I wish those internet campaigners the best of luck. I am behind you 100%.

Danie Tue, Oct 9, 2007 at 09:10 PM EST

Even if all the campaigns don't work for CBS, perhaps they will for another network. Jorja fans will follow her wherever she goes.

Wanda Ross Tue, Oct 9, 2007 at 08:34 PM EST

We're all hoping that whatever differences there are between Jorja and the TPTB can be solved...without Jorja and WP there's no CSI...please solve this....Don't let Grey's win...

Shannon Tue, Oct 9, 2007 at 08:15 PM EST

At first I just thought that Jorja leaving the show was just a rumor, However my gut feeling says it's true We will not give up.

leigh Tue, Oct 9, 2007 at 06:11 PM EST

Jorja Fox is the reason that I watch CSI. If she were to leave I'm not sure that I can continue to watch. Please Save Sara Sidle.

Caroline Tue, Oct 9, 2007 at 04:30 PM EST

Thanks for the props! I love watching a confidant woman who knows what she wants and uses her brain (not her body) to get it! Keep Jorja on CSI!!

Tue, Oct 9, 2007 at 04:24 PM EST

"Never doubt that a small group of people can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has"-Betty Williams

Now, we may not be being trying to change the world, but never underestimate what we can do.

Kathy Love Tue, Oct 9, 2007 at 03:27 PM EST

Face it! There is no CSI without Jorja Fox, if they get rid of her, then I leave too.....CBS needs to recognize a good thing when they have it. Shame on them!

Sandra Tue, Oct 9, 2007 at 03:54 AM EST

CBS is really stupid not to give Jorja what she deserves. It's obvious that Sara Sidle is the main female character that generates interest in this show. And she has huge following in the 18-40 female demographic. This show has been making so much money for CBS for so many years, and Sara Sidle/Jorja Fox is instrumental in that. They are making a big mistake if this is true. Hope it won't be too late when they realize it.

Laurel Mon, Oct 8, 2007 at 10:46 PM EST

I like Greg too and Brass! My favs are Sara, Grissom, Greg, Brass, Nick, Warrick. But I have to say, if JF is too young to be Grissom's love interest than Grissom's real life wife is too! Grissom and Sara are intellectual equals and two lovable adult geeks that make eachother happy. That's what matters. Not age! I think their romance is so special. Grissom has come to life by opening up to Sara. It's so beautiful. Can't see why they'd let it end! I wanted Brass to find Sara with Nick, not Sofia by the way. Brass rocks!

chippy Mon, Oct 8, 2007 at 10:16 PM EST

Personally, my favorite character on CSI is Greg...and Detective Brass..but..I also think that Sara is an integral part of the show, but..isn't she a bit young to be Grissom's love interest?Anyway, her leaving might be rumor.

Tara Mon, Oct 8, 2007 at 09:52 PM EST

Sara is our favorite CSI! Without her there really cannot be a proper CSI. We are not giving up until CBS gives Jorja Fox the raise she deserves!

Megan Mon, Oct 8, 2007 at 09:39 PM EST

But who would have thought thousands of pounds of nuts would save a TV show? But definitely did, though. Don't underestimate the Sara Sidle fandom. Thousands of complete strangers are coming together to try and save their favorite CSI. That right there says something, now doesn't it?

Exactly.

JFan86 Mon, Oct 8, 2007 at 08:48 PM EST

Thanks for the props guys!

JF stays....or we go.

Sara/Jorja is the reason I watch every week. Without her...it's pointless.

summerhorse Mon, Oct 8, 2007 at 08:03 PM EST

I keep hoping Sarah's leaving will turn out to be a publicity stunt for CBS but I'm afraid they really ARE stupid enough to let one of their most popular characters go over the objections of the fans, many of whom will let their fingers do the walking down the dial to another channel.

Kristin Mon, Oct 8, 2007 at 07:56 PM EST

Thank you so much for mentioning the campaign. We're hoping to turn things around!

Shelly Troy Mon, Oct 8, 2007 at 07:28 PM EST

I personally wouldn't underestimate the power of thousands of people around the world! CSI would not be complete without Jorja Fox - surely CBS knows this.

Sharon Mon, Oct 8, 2007 at 07:25 PM EST

For so many people there is NO CSI without Jorja Fox, so the producers should pay attention to what the fans want...Anyway, they have incomplete storylines. We all want to know what happened with THAT COCOON!!!!

kelli Mon, Oct 8, 2007 at 07:22 PM EST

I wouldn't be suprised if they succeeded....Jorja Fox has millions of fans all over the world....and CBS should take note of that if they want to keep the ratings for CSI up!

Lily Mon, Oct 8, 2007 at 07:20 PM EST

I think CSI would be 'nuts' to let Jorja leave. Her character has woven herself into the hearts of so many in ways that go deeper than most TV characters. To lose her would seriously rip out Grissom's heart and the heart of the show. Thanks for the coverage and everyone... keep the faith. All these people (and there are tons of us) who are willing to go to such great lengths to save her says a whole lot. I'm not one to participate in campaigns but this one called out to me. Sara's been in my living room for 7 years. I don't want her gone. Jorja needs to stay!

ruth oriel Mon, Oct 8, 2007 at 07:18 PM EST

Cool, its good to see the little guy give the big company a piece of their minds.

Tefla Mon, Oct 8, 2007 at 07:09 PM EST

Thanks for taking the time to report on this campaign effort. Who knows ... we might surprise everyone and succeed.

Can we just ask who this insider is?
