Maybe it’s just the trials of having one of the most visible new shows on the fall TV schedule, but rumors of behind-the-scenes woes continue to dog NBC’s Bionic Woman, including speculation that executive producer David Eick’s responsibilities have been scaled back. An NBC/Universal spokesman said Eick remains on duty at Woman, though we heard from a reliable source that scribe Jason Katims has been recruited to run the writers room at Woman in addition to executive producing Friday Night Lights. Supposedly, NBC promised to pick up the back nine episodes of FNL in exchange for Katims pulling double-duty, though the spokesman insists that FNL always had a 22-episode pickup this season. The spokesman also said that Katims is serving as a consultant only on Woman. The rumors could be good news/bad news for FNL fans, who should be grateful to hear their favorite show is staying on the air despite low viewership (an anemic 5.92 million) but troubled to hear that Katims is being stretched thin between FNL and Woman, which continues to trend downward in viewers from its promising premiere (13.9 million). Overall, Woman is now averaging 12.1 million viewers. Stay tuned….
