Dreamworks confirmed late Wednesday night that screenwriter Ehren Kruger will cowrite the screenplay for Transformers 2 (tentatively slated for release in 2009) with Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci, the writers behind the first Transformers film. Kruger, best known for The Ring and The Ring 2, will work with Kurtzman and Orci to replicate the phenomenal success of the original Transformers, which earned close to $700 million worldwide for Dreamworks and its parent company Paramount.
