Jason Reitman, director of last year’s Thank You For Smoking and this year’s sure-to-be critical darling Juno, is about to break into a group of elite filmmakers. The son of Ivan Reitman will join the ranks of J.J. Abrams, Harold Ramis, Miguel Arteta, and Joss Whedon when he takes a seat in the director’s chair of The Office. Reitman, who is friends with Rainn Wilson and John Krasinski, was given a script and a floor plan as part of his prep for the show. You see, since The Office’s set is built to mimic a real workplace environment, Reitman will be forced to get really creative in maneuvering his two cameras to capture the episode (it’ll air later this season). The other challenge for directing this sitcom: There is no extra lighting. The only option is to remove a ceiling panel to let in more light. No worries though, Jason. If you’re up to directing Juno’s Michael Cera in gold gym shorts you can handle anything.
